The British Iraqi Friendship Society (BIFS) is delighted to announce a forthcoming lecture on the Oil and Gas sector in Iraq.

The lecture titled Iraq's Oil and Gas Sector - Current Reality and Future Prospects, will be given by Mr Majid Jafar.

Majid Jafar is the Executive Director of the Crescent Petroleum Group and Member of the Board of Directors of Dana Gas PJSC, where he serves as Chairman of the Corporate Governance and Remuneration Committee and as a Member of the Business Development Committee. He is also a Director of Gulftainer Ltd. He previously worked for Shell International in the Exploration & Production Division and also in their Gas & Power division. In addition to his professional commitments, Majid Jafar serves on the Board of the Arab Forum for Environment and Development, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce, the Sharjah Expo, and the Iraqi-British Friendship Society. He is also an active member of the Royal Institute for International Affairs in London, and of the Young Arab Leaders (UAE Chapter). Majid Jafar holds Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Engineering (Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics) from Cambridge University, as well as an MA (with Distinction) in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of London's School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), and an MBA (with Distinction) from the Harvard Business School.

This event will be held on Monday 22nd March 2010 at 17.30 at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower, Cadogan Place, London SW1X 9PY.

This event will be free for members of the British Iraqi Friendship Society. A charge of £10 will be applicable to non-members.
